Importance of Prayer
"The Holy Spirit, whose anointing permeates our whole being, is the interior Master of Christian prayer. He is the artisan of the living tradition of prayer. To be sure, there are as many paths of prayer as there are persons who pray, but it is the same Spirit acting in all and with all. It is in the communion of the Holy Spirit that Christian prayer is prayer in the Church." - Catholic Catechism #2672

Ministry of Prayer and Praise Group
What is the Ministry of Prayer and Praise?
It is a spiritual ministry in which participants offer all their prayers, joys, and sufferings to God for the good of our parish and diocese and the salvation of souls throughout the world.
Who can belong?
Anyone in the parish is eligible and welcome to be a member, but a particular invitation is given to all senior citizens and especially to our brothers and sisters who are homebound, sick, or handicapped.
What do I have to do as a Minister of Prayer and Praise?
You are asked to pray regularly (daily, if possible) and offer your sacrifices and sufferings - as well as your joys - for the intentions of individuals and the church.
Do I have to say special prayers?
No. You can continue to use the same spiritual exercises you are currently using. You will be provided a book of prayers; if you wish, you may incorporate some of these into your daily prayers.
How will I know what I should pray for?
We will keep in contact with you and send you prayer requests which will give specific intentions according to the needs of individuals, the parish, the diocese, and the universal Church.
What good will this do?
Participants will form a great body of holy people before the Lord. They will be helping to provide a spiritual powerhouse that will bring God's blessings on our priests, staff, ministers, and parishioners. Each will be supporting the activities and programs of the parish in a most critical way.
As a special minister in the Church, Ministers of Prayer and Praise will receive God's blessings on them and on their loved ones. Through their intercession, God's blessings will pour forth on the members of our parish, the diocesan church, the universal Church, and the whole world.
Do I have to pay dues or attend meetings?
Absolutely not. This is a spiritual ministry. The parish is privileged and most appreciative of your prayers.
How do I join?
Complete the application on this page. Deacon Bob or his wife, Peg, will be in touch with you to arrange your commissioning to the Ministry of Prayer and Praise team during a Mass or in your home, if needed. At that time you will receive a Ministry of Praise prayer book, a prayer shawl and a certificate of membership.
